NEW THIS WEEK

X-MEN: Escape from the Negative Zone

Sucked into the Negative Zone, the X-Men are taken captive by Blastaar — and with the Fantastic Four still reeling from a death in the family, it falls to Steve Rogers to step in and mount an interdimensional rescue mission to save the mutants. But the Negative Zone alien isn't the biggest problem the X-Men and fighting Avenger will face. The lack of water and bizarre physics of the Negative Zone have driven Namor crazy — so crazy he's destroying everything in his path, even his friends! Collecting UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL (2006) #3, STEVE ROGERS: SUPER-SOLDIER ANNUAL #1 and NAMOR: THE FIRST MUTANT ANNUAL #1.

Wolverine and Jubilee: Curse of the Mutants

STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PAGES OF X-MEN AND RIGHT INTO THE JUGULAR! Jubilee is about as far away from the ideal X-Man as it's possible for a 17-year-old minty fresh vampire to be. While the X-Men try to find a way to give her as normal a life as is inhumanly feasible, her decidedly abnormal vampire cravings will not be denied. Between that and her newfound powers, she's winning the fights — but not the popularity contests among most of the other X-Kids. Most, but not all. And just when Jubilee starts to think that there's no place for her anywhere, a group of vampire women make her an offer she can't refuse. It seems like the perfect solution, unless Wolverine has anything to say about it! Collecting WOLVERINE AND JUBILEE #1-4 and Jubilee's first appearance from 1989's UNCANNY X-MEN #244.

The Tall Man (DVD)

The Tall Man is the story of Palm Island, the tropical paradise where one morning Cameron
Doomadgee swore at a policeman and forty minutes later lay dead in a watch-house cell.
It is the story of that policeman, the tall, enigmatic Christopher Hurley who chose to work in
some of the toughest and wildest places in Australia, and of the struggle to bring him to trial.

Welcome to Manly Library's "YOUTH ON THE BEACHES" Blog.

This blog will be used to post info about upcomming youth events, competitions and workshops to be held at, or in conjunction with Manly Library.

It is also a place where members can share reviews of books, magazines, albums, films that they have read, watched or heard or even review a concert or other event of interest to young people on the beaches.

Library staff will be regularly posting lists of new Young Adult books and other library items like DVDs and CDs that would be appreciated by a young adult audience as well as reviews of our favorite new YA books.
